Hi! Head's up that the analogies are flipped on page 5 of the PDF - the track and field example is objective whereas the figure skating example is qualitative
A well-used sports analogy helps illustrate the differences between objective and subjective measures. Sports, such as track and field, use subjective measures such as the time to run a specific distance or the height or length of a jump to measure performance. Other sports, like diving or figure skating, are judged using objective measures such as the athlete’s gracefulness and originality or complexity of the routine.
