    Good Morning TPRM Community,

Our institution has begun working on developing an ESG framework.  One of the areas we are looking at around S (Social) is in supplier diversity.  We currently don't ask or capture any information around supplier diversity.  We also don't have a stand alone procurement process so considering where and how in the process we can/should obtain and review; thinking possibly at RFP.

I am wondering what other organizations are doing around supplier diversity.  What kinds of information do you obtain, when in the process do you obtain, how do you use that information (information only, targeted diversity goals etc)? Also interested in what categories of supplier diversity folks are looking at- veteran owned, small business, women owned, minority owned.

Thanks so much everyone, your advice and experience is always amazing!
    Shelly

I have seen ESG come up in TPRM topics a lot lately and am also curious for this response.  I get supplier diversity but for a community bank that is privately funded, when would this be applicable.

To gather xBE (Minority-MBE, Veteran-VBE, Women-WBE, etc. - x Business Enterprise) information, our Due Diligence process asks:
Is the Vendor a federally classified minority-owned or women-owned business? (older question set)
    or
Is the Vendor a certified Diverse Supplier/Vendor? (Current Question Set)

    Hi Shelly
We leverage questions in our Vendor Questionnaires that we can extrapolate responses from our inventory to provide details on vendor diversity. We ask:
Is the business Minority Owned, Woman Owned, Veteran Owned, Disabled Owned, LGBTQ Owned, classified as a small Business or other business diversity classification as defined by the applicable certifying authority?
Do you have an ESG program? If yes, please provide details/evidence

Depending on how your inventory is kept and allows from a record keeping standpoint, it allows us to capture those who are diverse and we can stratify for corporate vendors, operational/technology vendors etc.

    Good Luck!!

Another angle to look at if the vendor is involved in manufacturing foods/equipment etc, is their approach to modern slavery risks - eg how do they ensure that their supply chain going all the way back to raw material extraction is free 9of modern slavery.
